Nina Bevis BSc (Hons) | Physiotherapist | Vestibular Rehabilitation & Ear Care

I’m Nina, a qualified physiotherapist and the founder of Balance & Ear Care Sussex.

I graduated with First Class Honours in Physiotherapy from the University of East Anglia and have developed a particular clinical interest in vestibular rehabilitation, dizziness and balance disorders throughout my training and professional career.

My specialist training includes a competency-based vestibular rehabilitation course at University College London, delivered by internationally recognised vestibular specialists, alongside further training in audiometry, otoscopy, ear impression taking and professional ear wax removal.

Alongside my physiotherapy background, I have worked within hearing care alongside audiologists, developing extensive practical experience in ear health, hearing screening and professional ear care. This has given me a valuable understanding of the close relationship between the ear, hearing and balance systems.

The story behind Balance & Ear Care Sussex

Having recently moved from Cambridge to Sussex, I wanted to establish a clinic where I could bring together my clinical experience, specialist training and particular interest in ear and balance health.

The aim of BECS is simple: to provide expert, evidence-based and individualised care, while giving patients the time and attention needed to properly understand their symptoms.

Why ear care?

My experience in hearing care has also reinforced how important good ear health is to overall wellbeing.

The inner ear plays an essential role not only in hearing, but also in balance. Combining my physiotherapy training with my experience in hearing care therefore felt like a natural progression.

Balance & Ear Care Sussex brings these two areas together, providing professional ear care alongside specialist physiotherapy for dizziness and balance disorders.

Why vestibular rehabilitation?

Dizziness and balance disorders can have a significant impact on everyday life, affecting confidence, mobility, exercise, work and independence. I have always been particularly interested in the complexity of the vestibular system and the way the brain, eyes, inner ear and musculoskeletal system work together to maintain balance.

I enjoy the clinical reasoning involved in vestibular assessment — understanding the pattern of someone's symptoms, identifying the systems involved and developing a targeted rehabilitation programme based on their individual needs.
